Three Generations of Beautiful Homes
The Silberstein family has been creating beautiful home interiors for more than 85 years. The business began in 1920 when Michael and Malvina Silberstein opened their upholstery shop in downtown Red Bank. In 1929, their son, David Silberstein, came to work at the upholstery shop at the young age of 12. He worked part time ripping furniture and sewing slip covers. He began to learn the trade with hands on experience. Following Navy service in WWII, he returned to the business, continuing to learn under his father’s guidance. When Michael retired in 1965, David became the owner and manager of the business at its new location in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
David and his wife Esther continued to run the business until their semi retirement last year. There is no break in continuity of family, because their son Howard and their daughter, Rhonda Silberstein Gale, have moved in to take their places. There has been and always will be a Silberstein present at M. Silberstein, Inc. Howard learned the same way his father had from the bottom up, starting with the basics of ripping furniture, sewing slip covers and drapes, and installing the finished products at the homes of waiting customers.
Today's third generation is steeped in the tradition of creating beautiful homes for third generation customers. This is one of the wonderful things about multi-generational businesses and the multi-generational loyalty of their clients. Silberstein's clients know that they will receive the best advice, quality workmanship; and custom tailored care, because over these 85 years, they have always dealt directly with a Silberstein. That's how it is when it's all in the family. Thank you for trusting us with this responsibility.
